John Forte to be released on December 22

On November 24, 2008, Forté's prison sentence was commuted by President George W. Bush. He was originally convicted and sentenced to the mandatory minimum 14 years, but is now set to be released from prison on December 22.

For those of you who don't know who he is...
John Forté is a Brooklyn-born rapper and producer. He co-wrote and produced two songs on the multi-platinum and Grammy-winning 1996 album, The Score, for The Fugees. He released his debut album, "Poly Sci," in 1998 which was produced by Wyclef Jean and "I, John" in 2002.

In 2000, Forté was arrested at Newark International Airport after accepting a briefcase containing $1.4 million worth of liquid cocaine; he was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and conspiracy to distribute. It was believed by many that he did not receive a fair trial, and an appeal of the mandatory minimum drug laws that would remove a judge’s discretion in a case , was filed on his behalf.

By the way....

Happy. Thankful. Blessed.

I been "caught up" lately lol... but I just wanted to take a quick second to acknowledge the fact that I am extremely happy with the ways things are falling into place in my life. When things don't go as we originally plan, we need to just have faith in the fact that God has bigger and better things in store for us.

October 23rd 2008... a little serendipity came my way :-)

Happy. Blessed. Thankful.

BARACK H. OBAMA: MY President!!!!!!!!!!!

Barack Obama is officially the 44th President elect!!!!!!!!!!!
Words cannot express all the emotions that still run through my body as I write that sentence.
Last night I was overwhelmed with utter joy, happiness, and PRIDE as it was announced that Barack Obama had won the election. I broke into tears, not just because he was the right man for the job and DESERVED to win, but because of what his win symbolizes. I'm only 22 years old and even I believed that I would NEVER live to see the day when a Black man would be elected President of the United States of America.
Allllll the hard work, sacrifice, blood, sweat, and tears of my ancestors has NOT gone in vain. I pray that they're beaming with pride and a sense of satisfaction as they look down on what has been accomplished.

But right now I don't think any words are good enough to express my feelings, so I'll just end this entry by saying... History has been made. Yes We Can, YES WE DID!!!!!

God be with MY President Barack Obama and the new first family.

We all need to *BARACK the VOTE*

This video gives me goosebumps...

ELECTION DAY is HERE!!!!! ((finally))

I woke up at 5 something this morning and got out there to vote (and I'm definitely NOT a morning person)!!!!!!!!
I was at the polls before 6 am and there was still a lonnnnnnnnnnng line bending the corner, but the atmosphere was soooooo hopeful and uplifting.... the entire experience was BEAUTIFUL. All I can do now is wait, but I hope everyone else makes sure they go out and vote!!!

I'm just happy and proud to be a part of this election, it really means sooooo soooo sooo much to me...
God willing Barack Obama will be the next President of the United States of America :-)

November 2008: Quote of the Month

"Count your blessings. Once you realize how valuable you are and how much you have going for you, the smiles will return, the sun will break out, the music will play, and you will finally be able to move forward the life that God intended for you with grace, strength, courage, and confidence."
