The Renaissance

November 4th is the BIG Election Day, but its also the day Q-TIP drops his new album "The Renaissance."
Album titled the "The Renaissance" symbolizing the reawakening and bringing back real hip-hop music. YES the game truly needs a Renaissance-type movement... bring back the true art form!! I feel the movement coming... (Some call it "hipster hip-hop, I call it DAMN GOOD MUSIC!!)
Should be a good album :-)

Just in Case u Didn't know.....

When you go to VOTE on NOVEMBER 4th you are NOT allowed to wear any pins, shirts, hats, etc. endorsing any of the candidates!!
Doing so is considered campaigning and no one is allowed to campaign within an X amount of feet from the polls. This is against the law and will be grounds to have the polling officials TURN YOU AWAY. (of course you can always return once you've changed, but just avoid the hassle)

So although all of our OBAMA pins and T-SHIRTs are cool, when Nov. 4th comes around don't wear 'em to the polls lol.
You'd be surprised at how many people aren't aware of this fact, so please pass the word on to anyone who you think may not be aware of the rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Racist "Obama Bucks"

So I was watching the news a while ago, and I've been wanting to blog about this for a while but I've just been so busy. Although I'm a little late now I still just wanna comment about this.

This picture was sent out in a newsletter to members of a Republican Women's group in Calfornia. I know this picture is a little bury but its basically a $10 food stamp with Barack Obama's face on it. On the "Obama Buck" he is surrounded by a bucket of fried chicken, watermelon, ribs, and Kool-Aid.
The president of the group who is responsible for circulating this newsletter claims there was nothing racist about what she sent out!! ARE YOU kidding me?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? It doesn't take a genius to see that this "Obama Buck" plays on Black stereotypes and is meant to be blatantly racist!!! Smh... its a shame.

I didn't catch all of the BET "Hip Hop" Awards, but I saw most of it and of course my fav performance of the night was COMMON and N.E.R.D!!!

Hmm yea that along with the clips from "The Cypher" were the best part of the awards to me.

Election Time is Near

I've been crazy busy this week and I didn't get to post my reminder about the third and final Presidential debate, but I hope you all got a chance to see it. (Smh @ McCain last night!!) Last night's debate was by far the "fiestiest" to say the least lol. But all that aside, I think voters have a clear perspective on where both candidates stand when it comes to the important issues.

November 4th is right around the corner and this election is soooooo important, I really hope everyone goes out to vote this year!!!!!

Wow time really zipsssssss by so fast, but yet so slow LOL

So I was thinking...

I really enjoyed photography when I did it back in high school, and have been dying to start back up again for some time now. I find myself constantly thinking of what would make a "great shot," wishing I had a camera with me to capture it. I've had this passion brewing for a few years now, and I think its about time I act on it!
Photography can be quite an expensive hobby, (trust me I know!) but I think its totally worth every dime. I find it remarkable how one photograph can capture, convey, and evoke so many emotions and messages all at once, and sometimes in the most simple way. I guess u can say I love its "complex simplicity."
The beauty of photography, and art for that matter, is it's often underlying ambiguity. When left open for interpretation there are no boundaries... just room for endless expression.
So with that being said... I definitely need to start saving some money for that camera and my new "photography fund"!! After all depriving myself would only stifle my creativity... right?
(And yes I'm going to do it on my own. No help from "mommy"... time to assert some independence!! I know it will take a lot more time this way, but I'm sure when I get it done it'll be all the more satisfying.)

Extreme Makeover Home Edition

Now I don't really watch alot of TV and I rarely catch this show, but every time I do I cry my eyeballs out!!
OMG I've probably only seen about 4-5 episodes, but its always so touching. When I see how happy and overwhelmed these disadvantaged families are after they come in, help them out and basically change their lives..... uuuuggggh it just hits a soft spot. I literally can't stop myself from crying. Idk maybe I'm just a big cry baby but I thought I'd just put that out there!! lol

L. Boogie

Lauryn Hill is one of my absoluteeeeeeee favorite artists of all time, and I think she's so so so illllll!!

I just wanted to give her a spotlight on my blog becasue I think she is incredibly talented and I am absolutely in LOVE with her voice. I don't believe there will ever everrrrrr be another L. Boogie, so I just wanna take the time to acknowledge her greatness.

A lot of people have a lot of negative things to say about her, mainly about her personal life and trying to insinuate that she's a lil "off" nowadays... but I don't care about what anybody has to say I will always love me some Lauryn Hill!

My little brother is always talking about him, and watching his fights on youtube and such.... but seriously doesn't he look like a combination of Rick Ross and Mr. T!!

I actually recently watched one of his fights with my little brother (I don't really like watching fights... not my thing), which lasted all of 30 seconds... SMH!! That Kimbo guy lost to some other guy with pink and black hair... idk youtube it if you're really interested.

Biden vs. Palin

The two VP candidates are having their only scheduled debate TONIGHT!!
Don't miss it... its important to know where these two stand because they're on the ticket for whoever it is we decide to vote for.
Personally, I've been anticipating this debate more than the first presidential debate, because I'm just dyinnnnnnnng to see how it all goes down. Many people have their doubts about both Palin and Biden, or have very little knowldege on where they stand on certain issues, so it'll be good to see how they get their points across and handle going toe to toe.
