Maybe we need to let it BREATHE...

This song is a throwback, but the words are very fitting for my current situation...

"All we do is make up and break up,
Why don't we wake up and see...
When love hurts, it won't work.
Maybe we need some time alone.
We need to let it BREATHE"

OH WAIT... yall thought I forgot about HIM?!

It might seem like I'm not be on it like before, but he's still my one of my FAVES. Check out the FREESTLYE. **9+ minutes off the dome**

Quick Recap

I didn't get to post about the NBA All Star Weekend, which I did enjoy AS USUAL. And more importantly I didn't get to post about Mr.MELO coming over to the Knicks.

BIG basketball fan, BIG Knicks fan and I'm excited about the trade.
I will admit that we gave up A LOT to make the trade happen but I'm very excited to see what Chauncey Billups, Amare Stoudemire, and Carmelo Anthony, along with the other Knick players are gonna do together. I've **always been a fan of all three** even before they became Knicks so its gonna be fun to watch them playing together on MY HOME TEAM! :-)
(Gallo, Felton and Chandler did a GREAT job and definitely helped get the Knicks to where we are now in the season BUT we had to let 'em go to get a superstar player MELO and a super duper point guard BILLUPS. Sorry guys)

The excitement returned to THE GARDEN when Amare came over... and now its just been turned up 10 notches. Hopefully, with time, the team will mesh well together and we'll be able to do some damage. Let's GO!

Oh and S/O to the Knicks for that win over the Bucks last night. The home crowd was in a FRENZY to see our new Knicks team hit the court!

Under the Weather...

I've been sick for the past few days, so that's why I've been MIA.
I was really feeling like I was on my DEATHBED (yes I'm THAT dramatic), but I'm feeling a little better now.... sooooo the GLAMDOLL is baaaack luvs! :)

Proud SIDECHICK Syndrome??

As we all know Valentine's Day was a few days ago, and a reoccurring topic for the past few days has been "SideChicks." A lot of people were posting comments about being a sidechick and I couldn't help but notice the reactions from a lot of females. Its been something that's been on my mind for a while so I HAVE to briefly address this issue!

I mean seriously... when did women start accepting being SIDECHICKS?!?!? Like when did that become cool or okay?!?!
I honestly feel like a lot of women lack a certain amount of respect for themselves and that's why they KNOWINGLY carry on relationships with men who are openly in a "committed" (and I use that term loosely, because his cheating is clearly a contradiction of the meaning of that word)relationship with another woman.
As women shouldn't we have standards set for ourselves? Why should you ever settle for second fiddle, when there's nothing stopping you from getting your own?

It also BOGGLES my mind how these "sidechicks" have NOW TAKEN ON THIS ATTITUDE as if the "real" girlfriend, fiancee or wife (or "wifey"... whatever term is used to refer to the woman HE OPENLY ADMITS being with) is the one who looks stupid or crazy, or should be frowned upon. It seems like they've adapted an attitude that the joke is on the girlfriend/wife "because if she was doing it right he wouldn't keep coming back to me" or "he'd really rather be with me than her, its just their situation"
I don't get that concept. I mean seriously in MOST cases the "girlfriend/wife" is being deceived by a man who goes around frontin' for the world that he's so committed and so in love with his girlfriend/wife.
Yet you (the sidechick) knows he'll probably NEVER really LEAVE the girlfriend/wife for YOU. He's using you to fulfill his unfaithful, deceiving, low-down-dirty dog habits and behaviors because he KNOWS YOU'LL LET HIM! You're being strung along and in most cases can (and probably will) be replaced by another sidechick. (The same slick talk he used on you, he'll most likely use again when he's had enough of you OR when YOU finally get fed up with the side role).

So who's really looking crazy?

A few convos of him telling you he "can't leave you alone," and how much he really really likes (he might even say love... idk these dudes do anything to SELL A DREAM) and how he's just "in a situation"... then BAM!! Just like that, morals fly out the window, and a woman allows herself to become the "sidechick."

This obviously gives that sidechick the feeling that they have the upper-hand on the girlfriend or wife.... which in turn feeds into this attitude of a false sense of superiority.
But in actuality your affair comes SECOND to the one he has with his girlfriend/wife. So upperhand? mmm... not really. All you really have is the knowledge of the wrong-doing, while the girlfriend/wife is in the dark (although she may have SUSPICIONS of her mate's infidelity).
Please keep in mind, sidechick, that he may tell you all those things you WANT to hear, to MAKE YOU BELIEVE whatever he's selling BUT you better believe he would DISMISS and DOWN-PLAY you to the girlfriend/wife in a heartbeat! (just the same way he may try to down-play the existing relationship with the girlfriend/wife while talking to you).

At the end of the day, the proof is in the pudding, if you're not the one he will OPENLY be with then....***straight face*** there's nothing else to really say. "You're looking crazy out here Ms. SIDECHICK!! Cuz basically he's kinda sayin... you're not good enough to claim" Ouch.
That "ah-haaa/oh well/jokes on you" attitude towards the girlfriend/wife is probably just a comfort mechanism to make you feel better about yourself, sidechick, but its not cute and it needs to STOP.
Starting to hate the girlfriend/wife is also dumb... its NOT her fault HER MAN, decided to CHEAT on HER with YOU. The whole idea of making her out to be the villain is just backwards thinking!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ULTIMATELY its a LOSE-LOSE situation for SIDECHICK vs GIRLFRIEND/WIFE, because either way the man is taking advantage of both women, and HE'S WINNING!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course, I am in NO WAY condoning the behavior of men who claim to "love" their girlfriends/wives, but yet pursue outside relationships with women who they often claim mean nothing to them (ummmm yea sure, so why do it fellas?).
But I'm just saying AS WOMEN we should value and EXPECT more for OURSELVES than to be subjected to the role of the "hidden lover" or sidechick. And as women, have a little more solidarity as a whole: Enough to at least STEP AWAY and not get involved with a man you KNOW is in a relationship, because there's nothing CUTE about that.

And if it HAS to boil down to who looks worse the girlfriend/wife
or the SIDECHICK. Sorry SIDECHICK you're LOSING!!!!
Get some self-respect. Stop vilifying and tryna play the girlfriend, stop blaming the MAN for coming back to you, because you can say NO (yes we know he's wrong too). Own up to your part in the situation. And REMEMBER The Golden Rule; Do unto others, as you'd like done unto you.

Super Bowl XLV

Happy Super Bowl Sunday everyone!!!!
Today it goes down, the Pittsburg Steeler vs. the Greenbay Packers... although I personally don't really care which team wins, I'll definitely be tuned in to all the action (game, commercials, and live performances). Its a great day to enjoy yummy treats, drinks, and basically enjoy QT with friends & family (even if you're not a big football fan).
Everyone knows I'm an NBA super-fanatic, and basketball is definitely my sport of choice, but I can still appreciate a wonderful Super Bowl Sunday with my loved ones. Everyone be SAFE and enjoy!! -xoxo

Which Zodiac sign has the worst drivers??

"Allstate Corp. retracted the press release on Wednesday that was meant to be a joke, displaying the accident rates of drivers according to their zodiac signs..."
Check out the whole story: http://finance.yahoo.com/insurance/article/112009/allstate-zodiac-joke-bombs?mod=insurance-autos

The findings were based on the actual birthdays of their customers involved in accidents.
OF COURSE the crazy VIRGOS are the worst drivers!!! Lol THIS DEFINITELY COMES TO NO SURPRISE to me, because I've already determined that most of you Virgos are emotional-whacked aka CRAZY (no offense guys lol, i still luv yall... well some of you lol).

Chinese New Year

Today marks the beginning of a new year according to the Chinese calendar. 2011 is the year of the rabbit. So I guess I can go around telling people "HAPPY NEW YEAR" for a second time... hmmm and maybe we all have a reason to party and get drunk all over again lol.
If I could speak any of the Chinese dialects, I'd probably going around saying it that way, just for the heck of it! :-P

(Sidebar: I definitely brought in 2011 at home, IN BED. Very boring. Maybe I should really use today as my New Year Celebration "do-over" lol)

"S&M" - Rihanna

The song is a little racy, so OF COURSE the video is too!
I like it. Even though I still don't LOVE the red hair, Rihanna looks cute anyway.

Unrest in Egypt

I have a few coworkers from Egypt, who have family members that still reside over there. Naturally they are VERY concerned about the well-being of these family members, as protests continue in efforts to overturn the current government/political structure that is currently in place.
My prayers go out to everyone affected by what's going on over there, and I wish for a quick resolve to the current "situatuion" at hand.

ShawtBusShawty

This video is soooooo retarded, but it definitely made me laugh smh...
I honestly do believe that these artists are DUMB! (Not really a fan of any them and their #bafoonery... oops I mean music lol, sorry)

Bloody Sunday

"Bloody Sunday" occurred on March 7, 1965, when 600 civil rights marchers were attacked by state and local police with Billy clubs and tear gas so the march was cancelled. The route taken by the marchers is memorialized as the Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail. On March 7, 1965, 525 to 600 civil rights marchers headed east out of Selma on U.S. Highway 80. Discrimination and intimidation had prevented Selma's Black population, roughly half of the city, from registering to vote three weeks earlier. On February 18, 1965, a trooper, Corporal James Bonard Fowler, shot Jimmie Lee Jackson as Jackson tried to protect his mother and grandfather in a café that they fled to while being attacked by troopers during a civil rights demonstration. Jackson died of an infection at Selma's Good Samaritan Hospital eight days later. The marchers hoped to bring notice to the violations of their rights by marching to the state capitol of Montgomery, Ala.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. called for a march from Selma to Montgomery to ask then-Governor, George Wallace, to protect Black registrants. Wallace denounced the march as a threat to public safety and declared he would take all measures necessary to prevent it. In their first march, led by John Lewis and the Reverend Hosea Williams, they made it only as far as the Edmund Pettus Bridge, which was just six blocks away. State troopers and sheriffs from the county police department, some of who were mounted on horseback, awaited the protestors. In the presence of the news media, the police attacked the peaceful demonstrators with Billy clubs, tear gas and bull whips, and drove them back into Selma.

America Reacts

Brutal images of the attack were televised, and this presented people with horrifying visions of peaceful marchers left bloodied and severely injured thereby rousing support for the U.S. civil rights movement. Amelia Boynton Robinson was nearly beaten and gassed to death — her photo appeared on the front page of newspapers and news magazines around the world. Seventeen marchers were hospitalized, leading people to the name that day, "Bloody Sunday." Rosa Parks also marched with them that day.

Immediately after "Bloody Sunday," King, as leader of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, began organizing a second march to be held on Tuesday, March 9, 1965, calling for people across the country to join him. Hundreds of people, shocked by what they had seen on TV, responded to his call. About 2,500 people marched from Selma to Montgomery for the second time.

To prevent another violent outbreak or opposition from law enforcement, the marchers attempted to gain a court order that would prohibit the police from interfering. Instead of issuing the court order, Federal District Court Judge Frank Minis Johnson issued a restraining order, preventing the march from taking place until he could hold additional hearings later in the week. Rather than abiding by the court order, the SCLC decided to hold a partial, "ceremonial" march, since hundreds of marchers had gathered for the event. The group did not want to alienate one of the few southern judges who gave them the court order and who was often sympathetic to their cause.

Finally, a third march was organized and the protest was successful in demonstrating the problems with discrimination, segregation and racism.

Black History Month

Although I personally acknowledge and celebrate the accomplishments made (both past and present) by people of the African diaspora ("Blacks") EVERY DAY, the month of Febraury is specifically dedicated to the rememberance and celebration of this rich history.
In honor of Black History Month, I'll hit you guys with a few Black History quick facts throughout the month. Stay tuned :-)

February 2011: Quote of the Month

"Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity."
